Men's Volleyball Rallies Back, Splits Double-Header with Badgers

FRANKLIN, MA.- February 1, 2025 - The Dean College men's volleyball team split a pair of matches against Vermont State University Johnson (VTSU) on Saturday inside Pieri Gymnasium.

Dean (1-5) remains home on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. conference match against Rivier. Johnson (3-1) plays a tri-match at Regis College next Saturday.

Match 1 – VTSU Johnson 3, Dean 0  – 25-23, 25-23, 25-22


After a back-and-forth battle, Johnson rallied through to earn a 3-0 win. The Badgers had 28 kills on 0.233 hitting.
 
The Bulldogs were led by junior Arthur Felicio (Saugus, Brazil) with 9 kills and hitting 0.389. He added 7 digs. First-year Mason Rua (Sao Paulo do Sul, Portugal) collected a game high 25 digs, while junior Hunter Armitage (Westerly, R.I.) compiled 24 assists.
 
First-year Io Binder (Portland, Ore.) led the Badgers hitting 0.440 and 12 kills, while junior Sam Munson (Georgia, Vt.) added 11 kills. Junior Spencer Tergeoglou (Athens , N.Y.) registered 24 assists.

Match 2 – Dean 3, VTSU Johnson 1 – 26-24, 27-25, 25-12, 25-21

The Bulldogs came out resilient winning the first set, however, the Badgers would respond by claiming set 2. This would not slow down the Bulldogs though, leading to a strong performance in the third set and prevailing in the fourth set to claim the win.
 
Armitage posted a game career-high 40 assists while hitting 1.000. Felicio continued his strong performance on the day with 13 kills, followed by first-year Noah Allen (Windham, N.H.) posting 12 kills and hitting 0.545. Rua collected 18 digs.
 
Binder led the Badgers with 24 kills with first-year Jonny Cayole (Burlington, Vt.) hitting 0.500. Sophomore Owen Marchessault (Burlington, Vt.) gathered 15 digs.
