Franklin, MA.- Anna Maria's Nolan Serafin hit a 3-pointer with 26.5 seconds left, as the Anna Maria Amcats stunned the Dean Bulldogs 72-69, in a back and forth game Wednesday night inside Pieri Gymnasium. Dean now drops to 13-5 (5-3) on the year, while Anna Maria moves to 8-11 (5-3)
The night cap of the doubleheader between the two GNAC rivals had 15 lead changes, and 7 ties. Both teams also hovered 45% efficiency from the field, with multiple turnovers and steals that generated such opportunities. The Bulldogs, at one point in the second half, saw themselves down by at most six points. However, their offensive efforts clawed them back into the game, thanks to the likes of
Billy Ray Barnes III (Inglewood, CA) and
Greg Farrow (Milwaukee, WI).
Christian Yeates (Atlanta, GA) got the scoring started for the Bulldogs in the first half, connecting on multiple baskets and initiating their in-paint presence. His efforts were sparked by
Tyler Nordstrom (Sterling, CT), who saw significant minutes in the first half after some early foul trouble. The Amcats, however, came away with the game thanks to not only the game-winning three-pointer, but the consecutive fouls drawn against the Bulldogs.
Yeates led the Bulldogs with 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Frankie Idlett (Miami, FL) added 12 points, and 7 rebounds.Â
Ja'maine Davenport (Mays Landing, NJ), also produced double-digit points on the night while collecting four rebounds and one steal. Serafin had 16 points for the Amcats, while Ray Carter led the team with 18 points, and 7 rebounds.Â
The Bulldogs will try to bounce back when they return to action when they head to Boston to play Emmanuel, while their next game will be on February 12 vs Mitchell.Â
