Franklin, MA.- The Dean College men's basketball team charged over Colby-Sawyer College, 89-70 in Saturday's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest in Pieri Gymnasium. The win propels Dean to 12-3 on the year (4-1), while the Chargers drop to 2-14 (0-5).
Throughout the entirety of the contest, the Bulldogs maintained offensive control. As a team, Dean shot over 50 percent from the field, a monstrous number compared to Colby-Sawyer's 37 percent. Dean nearly doubled Colby-Sawyer's field-goal percentage in the first half as well.
In the first half, the Bulldogs jumped out to a quick advantage, leading 19-10 midway through. A strong showing by
Greg Farrow (Milwaukee, WI) helped Dean maintain the lead heading into the locker room. Farrow led the Bulldogs in first half points (14), with Billy Ray Barnes (Inglewood, CA) following closely behind with eight.
Frankie Idlett (Miami, FL) led Dean in assists with five. At the end of the half, Dean held a 12-point lead on Colby-Sawyer, 43-31.
The second half saw Dean drive off into the sunset. Once again, the Bulldogs outscored the Chargers, this time 46-39 in the second half. Billy Ray Barnes led second-half scoring for Dean, producing an astounding 19 points, three assists, three rebounds, and one block.
Greg Farrow also had another strong half, scoring 13 points. The Chargers also entered foul trouble late into the game, allowing Dean to capitalize and convert nearly 70 percent from the free throw line.
Both Barnes and Farrow finished the contest with 27 points each. Franklie Idlett led the Bulldogs in assists (7) and rebounds (11). Barnes also recorded two steals in the game.
Dean is back in action on Tuesday night, traveling to Lasell University for a 7:30PM tip-off in GNAC play.
