Men's Basketball Throttles Past New England College, 93-56

Franklin, MA.- The Dean College Bulldogs men's basketball team throttled their way to a Wednesday night win over New England College, defeating the Pilgrims by a final score of 93-56 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play at Bridges Gymnasium.

Dean quickly got the action started in the first quarter, going on a 6-0 run with baskets from Christian Yeates (Atlanta, GA), Frankie Idlett (Miami, FL) and Billy Ray Barnes III (Inglewood, CA). By the middle point of the first half, the Pilgrims began to retaliate, eventually cutting the Bulldog lead to 14. Baskets by Barnes and Greg Farrow (Milwaukee, WI) gave Dean the momentum once again, increasing their lead. At the end of the half, New England College outscored Dean, but the Bulldogs maintained their strong 41-33 advantage. Barnes led the Bulldogs in first half points (9).

In the second half, Dean ran away with the score. They began on a 9-0 run to open the half, with three different scores by Franklie Idlett and a good basket from Greg Farrow. The Pilgrims did not score their first points of the half until the 3:45 mark. After an impressive showing on offense, Dean outscored the Pilgrims 52-23 in the second half. Idlett led Dean in second half points at 11, with Barnes right behind at 10.

Billy Ray Barnes III led the Bulldogs in total points with 19, while three other Dean players finished with double-digit point performances. Franklie Idlett also finished the contest with an impressive 10 assists and five steals. Dean outshot the Pilgrims from the field 52% to 33%.

The Bulldogs return to Pieri Gymnasium on Saturday, January 18th for a 2PM tip-off, hosting Colby-Sawyer College in GNAC action.
