Franklin, Mass.- After a tightly contested first half that settled to a 0-0 tie, the Lasell Lasers pulled away from the Dean College Bulldogs women's soccer team. scoring three goals in the opening 15 minutes of the second half en route to a 3-0 victory on Friday at Grant Field. The loss, Dean's second straight, drops the Bulldogs to 1-2 on the season, while the win improves the Lasers to 2-1.
Lasell outshot the Bulldogs extensively in the first half, finishing the first frame with a 13-0 advantage and a 8-1 edge in corner kicks. The score remained tied at the half due to stellar play by senior goalkeeper
Haley Gaunt (Johnston, R.I.) who made 9 first half saves en route to a season-high 17.
The dam broke for the Bulldogs in the opening minutes of the second half, when the Lasers pulled off a 3-0 run over the span five minutes to take control of the game and eventually put it out of reach.
Michelina D'Agostino scored the first two goals, both off crosses into the box, the first assisted by
Camdyn LaMarre, and the second assisted by
Destani Alua-Rioux. Alex Delaney scored on an assist from
Emily Dehert minutes later to give Lasell the decisive 3-0 advantage.
The Bulldogs are back on the field on Wednesday September 11th, when they travel to Chicopee, Mass. for a 7 p.m. kickoff with Elms College.
