Chicopee, Mass.- The Dean College Bulldogs women's soccer team dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest to Elms College 3-1 on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs fell behind 3-0, and despite scoring late, could not overcome the deficit. The loss drops Dean to 1-3-0 (0-2-0 GNAC) on the season, while Elms improves to 2-3 (2-1 GNAC).
Elms scored quickly, capitalizing on a chance in the fourth minute off the foot of
Jamie McDonough to give the Blazers a quick 1-0 lead. In the twentieth minute, the hosts struck again, this time on a goal from
Hannah Kolodziey to push the Blazers advantage to 2-0. The rest of the first half remained scoreless. Dean trailed in the first half 9-3 in shots and 4-2 in corner kicks.
Fifteen scoreless minutes opened the second half, before Elms found the back of the net again to provide themselves a 3-0 cushion on a Mcdonough's second goal. this one assisted by Lilli Ramos. The Bulldogs threatened in the second half, leading in corner kicks 2-1 and narrowing the gap in shots to a 7-6 elms advantage. The Bulldogs eventually broke through in the eighty-sixth minute on a goal from senior
Lisette Ayala (Chicopee, Mass.). The goal from Ayala was her second of the season and fourth of her career.
Elms held a 16-9 final advantage in shots and a 5-4 edge in shots. Dean goalkeeper
Haley Gaunt (Johnston, R.I.) made six saves in 90 minutes of work, allowing three goals.
