Chicopee, Mass.- The Dean College Bulldogs men's soccer squad was upended on the road by the Elms Blazers on Tuesday, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Tuesday night. The loss drops Dean to 1-4-0 (0-2-0 GNAC) while Elms improves to 3-3-0 (2-1-0 GNAC).
A scoreless game for much of the first half. the Blazers eventually found the back of the next in the 43rd minute on a strike from
Patricio Vidales, assisted by
Jacob Molina Ferrer. The game entered the halftime break with the hosts ahead 1-0. Elms outshot the Bulldogs 11-4 in the first half and had 5-2 edge in corner kicks. Junior keeper
Jake Godwin (Norwalk, Conn) made six first-half saves while allowing the one goal.
Twenty minutes into the second half, Elms cashed in for a crucial insurance goal when
Jelani John finished off a feed from
Pajorn Drysdale to put the hosts up 2-0. Dean threatened in the second half, spraying four of their nine second half shots on goal, but Blazer keeper
Aidan Berube kept the Bulldogs off the scoreboard. Dean's offensive attack was led by
Jake Richard (Townsend, Mass.) who had three shots (one on goal) and
Nate Potter (North Bennington, Vt.) who had two shots.Â
Elms led the final tally for shots (23-13). Corner kicks were tied 8-8. Godwin finished with ten saves.Â
Dean is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Lasell for a GNAC battle at 3:30 p.m. in Newton, Mass.Â
