Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Toppled By Saint Joseph's (Me.), 4-0

Franklin, Mass.- The Saint Joseph's College Monks scored five minutes into the game and never looked back, en route to a 4-0 win over the Dean College Bulldogs in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) mens' soccer action at Longley Field on Saturday. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 1-3 (0-1 GNAC), while SJC improves to 1-3-1 (1-1 GNAC).

Nick Marion's goal, a hard fought battle down the left side that he flipped past Bulldog keeper Jake Godwin (Norwalk, Conn.),  in the sixth minute gave the visiting Monks an early advantage. In the 28th minute, Rion Dos Santos swelled the St. Joseph's advantage to 2-0 on an unassisted tally. The Bulldogs entered the halftime break trailing by two, with a 17-6 deficit in shots. Godwin made 10 first half saves.

Fifteen minutes into the second half, St. Joseph's extended their advantage to three on a goal from Gus Ford, assisted by Dos Santos. In the 85th minute, the Monks added an insurance goal off the foot of Curtis Metcalf.

SJC finished with a 28-11 edge in shots and a 4-2 lead in corner kicks. Senior Bryce King (Athol, Ma.) led the Bulldogs attack with two shots, both on goal, while juniors Chris Tunley (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Jake Richard (Holden, Mass.) both added two shots of their own. Godwin finished with 14 saves in 90 minutes of action.

Dean is back in action on Tuesday, September 17th, at Elms College at 7:00 p.m.
