Worcester, Mass.- The Dean College Bulldogs men's soccer team dropped a non-conference contest to #12 nationally ranked Worcester Polytechnic Institute, 3-0 on Wednesday night. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 1-2 on the season, while WPI improves to 5-0. 
The hosts jumped ahead immediately, scoring in the fourth minute on a goal by 
Evan Hass, to take a quick 1-0 advantage. Dean defended admirably for the rest of the game, conceding shots but limiting the Engineers scoring chances. The hosts broke through the Bulldog defense again late in the first half, pushing their advantage to 2-0 on a goal from 
Fillippo Marcantoni, assisted by Tora Ito. At the break, WPI had 13 shots to Dean's 3 and held a 4-1 edge in corner kicks. Bulldog keeper
 Jake Godwin (Norwalk, Conn.) 
 had four first half saves. 
In the second half, WPI ramped up the pressure, outshooting the Bulldogs 17-0 and applying consistent pressure. Dean held strong on defense, allowing only one goal, a free kick from
 Alejandro Clermont from just outside the box in the 52nd minute that gave the hosts a 3-0 lead. 
The Engineers finished with a 30-3 edge in shots and 8-1 advantage in corners. Godwin ended up with 10 saves for the Bulldogs in 90 minutes of work.
Dean returns home for a Saturday afternoon Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest on Saturday at 12 p.m. against Saint Joseph's College of Maine. at Longley Field.
