Baseball Falls at Springfield in Season Finale

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – May 1, 2024 – The Dean College baseball team fell at Springfield, 13-6, in a season finale on Wednesday afternoon.

Dean ends its season with a 12-23 record. The Bulldogs, under the direction of first-year head coach Endy Morales, posted the most wins in a season since becoming a full member of the NCAA. Springfield (16-19) finishes the regular season on Saturday with a conference doubleheader at Babson.

The Pride led 3-0 after one inning, but Dean took a 4-3 lead in the top of the second. Senior Kyle Lancaster (Dartmouth, Mass.) drove in a pair of runs with a single and then scored on a Seth Cruz (East Freetown, Mass.) single. First-year Rylan Secovich (Southwick, Mass.) gave the Bulldogs the lead with a sac fly that scored sophomore Colin Favata (Syosset, N.Y.).

Springfield responded in the home half of the second with four runs on a pair of sac flies, an error and an RBI single to regain the lead at 7-4.

The home team plated another five runs in the fourth for a 12-4 advantage. Luke DiMauro had the big hit with a 2-run homer to left.

Springfield added a 13th run in the fifth on a bases loaded walk.

Dean scored twice in the sixth on a Cruz RBI single and when sophomore Jacob Paschetto (East Longmeadow, Mass.) came in on a throwing error to make the score 13-6.

Junior Joey Bossinas (Ossining, N.Y.) led Dean with a 3-for-5 effort and two runs scored. Paschetto added two hits and two runs. Favata and Cruz also had two hits apiece.

Cole Zalegowski finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Pride, while Jack Dunaisky had three hits in six at-bats.
