Bulldogs Outlasted by Lasell in Overtime, 14-13

FRANKLIN, Mass. – April 6, 2024 – The Dean College women's lacrosse team was edged in overtime by Lasell, 14-13, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) South Division action at Grant Field Saturday afternoon.

Dean (2-8, 1-5 GNAC, 1-2 South) travels to the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. South Division matchup with the Blue Jays. Lasell (5-5, 1-4 GNAC, 1-1 South) hosts Regis on Tuesday.  

The Bulldogs held a 13-11 lead with 7:30 left to play, but Lasell scored twice down the stretch to force overtime. Dean won the opening draw of overtime but could not convert on the offensive end. Lasell then took the ball to the other end where Kaitlin Bedell found the back of the net with the game-winner.

Junior Natalie Peterson (Hudson, Mass.) led Dean with four goals for the second game in a row. Juniors Haley Gaunt (Johnston, R.I.) and Nina Medeiros (Fairhaven, Mass.) each had a hat trick. Medeiros added a game best seven draw controls. Sophomore Emma Mock (Tunkhannock, Pa.) contributed with a couple of goals, while first-year Caroline Ramsey (Shreveport, La.) finished with a goal and an assist.  

Teresa Kessner paced the Lasers with seven goals. Bedell contributed five points on two goals and three assists.

Joy Sayah earned the win with 12 saves, while Dean sophomore Allie Stockwell (Burrillville, R.I.) had eight stops in the loss. Stockwell now has 304 saves in two seasons.

Lasell led 4-2 after the first quarter. Peterson had both Bulldogs' goals in the frame.

Dean responded by scoring the first five goals of the second quarter to take a 7-2 lead before Lasell finished the half with a pair to pull within one at the break.

Lasell tied the game with a goal less than two minutes into the third. Dean then finished the stanza on a 4-1 run to lead 11-8 after 45 minutes.
