WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – April 10, 2024 – The Dean College women's lacrosse team was defeated by the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.), 21-3, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) South Division action Wednesday night.
Dean (2-9, 1-6 GNAC, 1-3 South) will celebrate senior day on Saturday at 11 a.m. against Mitchell. Saint Joseph (8-4, 6-1 GNAC, 3-1 South) continues a 4-game homestand on Saturday with a 1 p.m. contest against Simmons.
Junior
Natalie Peterson (Hudson, Mass.), junior
Nina Medeiros (Fairhaven, Mass.) and first-year
Caroline Ramsey (Shreveport, La.) scored one goal apiece for the Bulldogs. Peterson added four draw controls and three ground balls. Medeiros also had four draw controls to surpass 200 for her career.
Dean sophomore
Allie Stockwell (Burrillville, R.I.) had six saves in net. She also picked up four ground balls.
USJ received five goals from Ashley Rufo, while Paige Rieger, Reagan Buscetto and Anna LeGault each scored four times.
The Blue Jays led 9-0 after the first quarter.
After the home team scored twice more to begin the second, Medeiros put Dean on the board. USJ added two more for a 14-1 lead at the half.
The Saint Joseph lead ballooned to 17-1 in the third before the Bulldogs scored a pair of goals to close the quarter.
USJ tacked on four more goals in the final quarter for the 21-3 win.
