FRANKLIN, Mass. – April 6, 2024 – The Dean College men's lacrosse team pulled away early in Saturday's 19-8 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over Regis.
Dean (7-3, 3-2 GNAC, 1-1 South) will make-up its North Division game at Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Regis (5-4, 1-4 GNAC, 1-2 North)
Senior
Alec Speirs (Old Lyme, Conn.) led all players with eight points on four goals and four assists. Senior
Diego Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, Mass.) scored five times to go with an assist. First-year
Manny Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, Mass.) was next with five points on three goals and two assists. Senior
Tyler Benedetto (Jupiter, Fla.) won 16-of-20 faceoffs and picked up 12 ground balls.
Dean first-year
Elijah Beland (Augusta, Maine) earned the win with five saves and one goal allowed in one half of action.
Nick Klein opened the scoring for Regis, but Dean scored the next 12 goals for a comfortable 12-1 lead at the half.
The Bulldogs outscored Regis 5-1 in the third to build a 17-2 lead after 45 minutes.
After a goal by
Joseph Marra (North Branford, Conn.) gave Dean its biggest lead of the game (18-2) early in the fourth, the Pride kept battling to finish the quarter with a 6-2 margin in scoring to account for the 19-8 final.
