NEW LONDON, Conn. – April 21, 2024 – The Dean College baseball team dropped a 21-5 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game at Mitchell on Sunday afternoon.
Dean (8-21, 1-12 GNAC) will make up yesterday's doubleheader against Elms on Monday at 2 p.m. Mitchell improves to 23-8 overall and remains atop the GNAC with a 10-0 record.
The Bulldogs had nine players record at least one hit for a team total of 12. Sophomore
Jacob Paschetto (East Longmeadow, Mass.) pushed his hit streak to eight games with a 2-for-4 effort, an RBI and a run scored. First-year
Rylan Secovich (Southwick, Mass.) went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Sophomores
Gavin Goss (Glenwood Landing, N.Y.) and
Nick Amendolara (Bayville, N.Y.) also had two hits.
Mitchell took control from the first inning with three runs. After a scoreless second for the Mariners, they went on to score one in the third, three in the fourth, five in the fifth, two in the sixth, fourth in the seventh and three in the eighth.
Dean scored a run in the second on a
Tyler Giambra (Prospect, Conn.) sacrifice fly that scored Secovich.
In the second, the Bulldogs plated two runs to tie the game at 3-3.
Owen Critchley (Dayton, Maine) singled home Amendolara and then Secovich brought home Paschetto with a single to center.
Critchley knocked in
Joey Bossinas (Ossining, N.Y.) in the eighth for Dean's fourth run of the game.
The Bulldogs got one more in the ninth when Paschetto drew a bases loaded walk to score
Seth Cruz (East Freetown, Mass.).
