WESTON, Mass. – April 20, 2024 – The Dean College women's lacrosse team dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) South Division game at Regis, 14-11.
Dean (3-11, 2-8 GNAC, 2-4 South) travels to Johnson & Wales on Tuesday for a regular season finale. Regis (9-6, 5-5 GNAC, 5-1 South) will host Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Tuesday to conclude the regular season.
Junior
Natalie Peterson (Hudson, Mass.) tallied a game best six goals to go with an assist. Sophomore
Alisha Caldeira (West Bridgewater, Mass.) contributed two goals and an assist, while junior
Haley Gaunt (Johnston, R.I.) added two goals.
Hope Alto led the Pride with four goals and 16 draw controls. Molly Higgins added a hat trick, while Kylee Marley finished with three goals and four assists.
Sophomore
Allie Stockwell (Burrillville, R.I.) ended the game with 16 saves for the Bulldogs. Daniela Mazo allowed eight goals with two saves in the first half. Allayna Martone played the second half and surrendered three goals with four saves.
The Pride jumped out to a 6-1 lead midway through the first quarter. Dean battled back to score the next three goals, including a pair by Peterson, to trim the deficit to 6-4. Alto stopped the run for Regis to give the home team a 7-4 lead heading into the second.
First-year
Caroline Ramsey (Shreveport, La.) began the scoring in the second frame to pull the Bulldogs to 7-5. The teams traded the next four goals before Peterson cut the Regis advantage to 9-8 with less than five minutes to go in the half. Regis went on to score the final two goals of the quarter for an 11-8 lead at the break.
Gaunt and Peterson scored 19 seconds apart early in the third quarter for the frame's only goals making the score 11-10 in favor of Regis.
The Pride scored three times in the first few minutes of the fourth to build a comfortable 14-10 lead. Gaunt scored Dean's 11th goal of the game with a free position in the final seconds.
