Bulldogs Split at Gordon

WENHAM, Mass. – April 18, 2024 – The Dean College baseball team split a pair of games at Gordon on Thursday. The Bulldogs won game one 15-2 and Gordon took game two 10-5 in five innings.

Dean (8-20) will resume Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday with a doubleheader at Elms. Gordon goes to 7-23 overall.

GAME ONE – Dean 15, Gordon 2

The Bulldogs scored 15 runs on 15 hits to win game one. Dean scored a run in the first, three in the second, one in the third, four in the sixth and six in the seventh.

Junior Joey Bossinas (Ossining, N.Y.) led the Bulldog hitters with a 3-for-4 effort and three RBIs.

Sophomores Gavin Goss (Glenwood Landing, N.Y.)  and Jacob Paschetto (East Longmeadow, Mass.) each had two hits and three RBIs, while Paschetto bashed his second home run of the season. The long ball came in the 6-run sixth for the Bulldogs as Paschetto deposited a 3-run homer down the left field line.   

First-year Kieran Karson (Raynham, Mass.) earned the win with 4 1/3 innings. He gave up two runs on four hits and three strikeouts. Sophomore Zach Handfield (Auburn, Mass.) and sophomore Kiefer Culligan (South Windsor, Conn.) each had scoreless relief appearances.

GAME TWO – Gordon 10, Dean 5 (5 inn.)

Dean led 1-0 after the first inning when Goss singled home senior Seth Cruz (East Freetown, Mass.).

After a scoreless second, Gordon erupted for eight runs in the third which included a solo home run and a grand slam.

The Scots added two more in the fourth on another solo shot and an RBI single.

The Bulldogs battled to score four runs in the fifth, but the game was called with Gordon holding a 10-5 lead. Goss knocked in Cruz again, while Paschetto added an RBI double and junior Marcus Baker (Franklin, Mass.) knocked in two with a double to the gap.

Goss, Paschetto and senior Kyle Lancaster (Dartmouth, Mass.) had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs.
