Bulldogs Celebrate with Senior Day with 20-4 Win over Mitchell

FRANKLIN, Mass. – April 13, 2024 – The Dean College women's lacrosse team celebrated senior day with a 20-4 win over Mitchell in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) South Division action at Grant Field on Saturday.  

Dean (3-9, 2-6 GNAC, 2-3 South) will play its final regular season home game on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. against Rivier. Mitchell (0-9, 0-8 GNAC, 0-6 South) hosts Emmanuel on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Prior to the game, seniors Mackenzie Fillion (New Bedford, Mass.) and Melissa Mostowy (Stamford, Conn.) were honored for their years of commitment to Dean College and the women's lacrosse program.  

Junior Natalie Peterson (Hudson, Mass.) led all players with seven points on six goals and an assist. She now has 100 career points. Sophomore Emma Mock (Tunkhannock, Pa.) was next with five goals and an assist. Junior Haley Gaunt (Johnston, R.I.) tallied three goals to reach 100 for her career. Sophomore Alisha Caldeira (West Bridgewater, Mass.) also notched a hat trick. Katie Hague (East Freetown, Mass.) scored her first two goals of the season. Junior Nina Medeiros (Fairhaven, Mass.) registered a goal, two assists and 11 draw controls.

Dean sophomore Allie Stockwell (Burrillville, R.I.)  earned the win with four saves. Mitchell goalie Hannah Gomes finished with nine saves.

Lauren Cordero scored twice for the Mariners.

The Bulldogs took control early by scoring nine times before Mitchell got on the board at the 2:53 mark. Peterson answered with two goals to give Dean an 11-1 lead after the first quarter.

The home team outscored Mitchell 3-1 in the second for a 14-2 advantage at the half. One of the Bulldogs' goals came from Gaunt, which was her 100th.

Dean had a 4-1 margin in scoring in the third and a 2-1 edge in the fourth to account for the 20-4 final.
