FRANKLIN, Mass.– April 13, 2024 – The Dean College baseball team fell to Johnson & Wales in two Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) games Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats won 17-5 and 19-8.
The Bulldogs (4-18, 0-11 GNAC) will host Curry at noon on Sunday. Johnson & Wales (17-6, 8-1 GNAC) hosts New England College tomorrow at 1 p.m.
GAME ONE – Johnson & Wales 17, Dean 5 (7 inn.)
The Wildcats struck right away with three runs in their first at-bat. Nicolas Fortes knocked in a pair with a single to center.
Dean got a run back in its first at-bat with a
Spencer Lichstrahl (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) bases loaded walk.
After JWU plated four in the second, the Bulldogs responded with RBIs from senior
Seth Cruz (East Freetown, Mass.), sophomore
Tyler Giambra (Prospect, Conn.) and sophomore
Gavin Goss (Glenwood Landing, N.Y.) to pull within 7-4.
Trevor Juan hit a 3-run home run in the third to put JWU on top 10-4.
The Wildcats added six runs in the fourth for a 16-4 advantage.
The Bulldogs' fifth run came in the bottom of the fourth on a sac fly by senior
Kyle Lancaster (Dartmouth, Mass.).
JWU tacked on a run in the sixth to go in front 17-5.
Cruz finished 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI to lead the Dean batters. Goss and sophomore
Colin Favata (Syosset, N.Y.) had two hits apiece.
Juan went 3-for-4 with five RBIs to lead the Wildcats.
GAME TWO – Johnson & Wales 19, Dean 8 (7 inn.)
After the Wildcats scored one in the first and three in the third, Dean responded by scoring six time in the bottom of the third for a 2-run lead.

Nick Amendolara (Bayville, N.Y.), junior
Joey Bossinas (Ossining, N.Y.) each knocked in a run while sophomore
Jacob Paschetto (East Longmeadow, Mass.) brought home a pair with a double.
JWU came right back with two runs in the fourth, 12 in the fifth and one in the sixth for a comfortable 19-6 lead.
Dean scored twice in the bottom of the seventh, but it was not enough as the game ended with a 19-8 margin. First-year
Rylan Secovich (Southwick, Mass.) tripled to the gap to bring home Bossinas and first-year
Christian Galante (Bellmore, N.Y.).
Giambra, Paschetto and Secovich had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs.
Riley Hasson 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI while Owen Davis drove in four for the Wildcats.
