FRANKLIN, Mass.– April 10, 2024 – The Dean College baseball team was defeated by Rivier, 4-2, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game Wednesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (4-16, 0-9 GNAC) welcomes Johnson & Wales to the Longley Athletic Complex on Saturday for a GNAC doubleheader beginning at noon. Rivier (7-15, 3-3 GNAC) hosts Gordon tomorrow at 7 p.m.
First-year
Kieran Karson (Raynham, Mass.) suffered the loss after three innings of work. He gave up two unearned runs on two hits with three strikeouts. Sophomore
Domenic Brazeau (Warwick, R.I.) also pitched three innings. He surrendered two runs, one earned, on four hits with three strikeouts. Sophomore
Jacob Koble (Narragansett, R.I.) threw the final three innings. He struck out three with no runs on one hit.
Sophomore Anthony Morro (Durham, Conn.) earned the win for Rivier after six strong innings. Sophomore Ty Baker (Hudson, N.H.) picked up the save with a clean ninth inning.
The Raiders broke a scoreless tie with three unearned runs in the fourth inning. Dylan Aliberti (Sandown, N.H.) and Kyle Hsu (Brookline, N.H.) each had an RBI in the frame.
Rivier took a 4-0 lead in the top of the sixth on a squeeze bunt by Owen Meddlock (Merrimack, N.H.) that scored Aliberti.
Dean got on the board in the bottom of the sixth when sophomore
Spencer Lichstrahl (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) singled home sophomore
Jacob Paschetto (East Longmeadow, Mass.) who reached on a single. The Bulldogs threatened with a couple of additional baserunners, but the rally was thwarted by Morro.
First-year
Rylan Secovich (Southwick, Mass.) began the seventh for the Bulldogs with a single up the middle. He then stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Secovich then scored on an infield single by sophomore
Tyler Giambra (Prospect, Conn.) to pull Dean within 4-2. The Raiders got out of another jam, stranding two more Bulldogs.
Sophomore
Nick Amendolara (Bayville, N.Y.) led Dean with two hits and a walk.
Hsu went 3-for-4 from the leadoff spot for Rivier.
