Men's Volleyball Toppled By Lasell

NEWTON, Mass. – March 28, 2024 - The Dean College men's volleyball team was upended by Lasell University, 3-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play Thursday evening. The Bulldogs fell by scores of 25-7, 25-15, and 25-16.

Dean's (3-14, 0-10 GNAC) next contest, will be against Lasell (13-11, 8-2 GNAC) again, this time at home as part of a tri-match with Rivier, on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Sophomore Arthur Felicio (Governador Valadares, Brazil) led the Bulldogs with three kills. Hunter Armitage (Westerly, R.I.) and Jerney Price (San Antonio, Texas) both added two kills. Armitage and Luis Castillo (Houston, Texas) paced the Bulldogs with six digs apiece.
Brenden Joyce hit .500 and finished with 10 kills to lead the Laser attack, while Bret Debelser posted a team best 23 assists.

The Bulldogs fell behind early in the opening frame, ceding 11 of the first 12 points before rallying to cut the deficit. Lasell scored 11 of the final 14 points to take the first set 25-7. The second set started with a more even pace, as the two squads split the opening six points before the hosts rattled off an 11-2 run to take a commanding lead. Dean rallied late to close the gap to eight, but Lasell tacked on the final two points to put the game away and take a 2-0 advantage into the third set. Lasell again raced out to a big lead in the final set, opening with a 7-1 run. The Bulldogs found their stride and staged a rally, closing the gap to 9-5 and later 12-7 on a kill by Steve Mazza (Westchester, N.Y.). Lasell responded with nine of the next ten points, however, to put the contest out of reach.
