BOSTON, Mass. – March 26, 2024 - The Dean College men's volleyball team was swept by Emmanuel, 3-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play Tuesday evening. The Saints won by scores of 25-17, 25-13 and 25-17.
Dean (3-13, 0-9 GNAC) will play at Lasell on Thursday at 7 p.m. Emmanuel (14-8, 7-4 GNAC) travels to Elms on Saturday.
Sophomore
Arthur Felicio (Governador Valadares, Brazil) tallied a team best nine kills for the Bulldogs. Senior
Maccus Dinsmore (Northborough, Mass.) was next with four kills. First-year
Luis Castillo (Houston, Texas) had five digs.
Senior Leonard Kim (Los Angeles, Calif.) hit .643 to finish with 10 kills. He added a match-high six digs. First-year Quincy Moore (Winchester, Mass.) recorded 15 assists and an ace.
Emmanuel opened the match on an 11-2 run. Dean answered with a 6-2 run to pull within 14-9. The Bulldogs later trailed 19-14 before the Saints rattled off five straight. Dean didn't go quietly by scoring the next three points, but Emmanuel received a kill from Joshua Duncan to secure the 25-17 win.
Dean began the second with a 4-1 spurt, capped by a Dinsmore kill. With the Saints holding a slim 10-8 lead, the home team scored seven consecutive points to take command at 17-8 en route to the 25-13 win.
The two teams traded runs in the early portion of the third set. Dean kept the score close at 11-9 and then 14-11. The Saints' offense then took over to lift Emmanuel to the 25-17 win with 13 kills on .524 hitting.
