FRANKLIN, Mass. – March 13, 2024 – The Dean College women's lacrosse team dropped a 15-13 decision to Curry on Wednesday afternoon at Grant Field.
Dean (1-3) begins a 3-game road trip with a conference game at Saint Joseph's (Me.) on Saturday at 2 p.m. Curry (4-2) will host UMass Dartmouth on Monday at 4 p.m.
Junior
Natalie Peterson (Hudson, Mass.) registered five goals and two assists for the Bulldogs. Junior
Haley Gaunt (Johnston, R.I.) added a hat trick, while first-year
Caroline Ramsey (Shreveport, La.) scored twice. Junior
Nina Medeiros (Fairhaven, Mass.) tallied two goals and 15 draw controls. Sophomore
Emma Mock (Tunkhannock, Pa.) also found the back of the net.
Junior Grayson Goolgasian (Johnston, R.I.) had seven goals and two assists to lead the Colonels. She added six draw controls, five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Senior Ellie Hardman (Hanover, Mass.) added five goals.
Curry sophomore goalie Zoe Ratcliffe (Medway, Mass.) earned the win with 11 saves. Dean sophomore goalie
Allie Stockwell (Burrillville, R.I.) stopped seven shots.
The visitors got out to a 3-0 lead before Mock put the Bulldogs on the board with 8:48 to play in the first. Goolgasian gave Curry a 4-1 lead with her first of the game in the final two minutes of the frame.
The deficit was 5-1 for Dean early in the second, but goals by Ramsey, Peterson and Medeiros pulled the Bulldogs to within 5-4 midway through the quarter. Curry answered with the next two goals before Peterson scored for Dean with 18 seconds left to make the game 7-5 heading into the break.
Dean knotted the game at 7-7 with goals by Medeiros and Peterson in the first minute of action of the third. The Colonels responded with a 4-0 run to create separation. Then the Bulldogs went on a 3-0 spurt to pull within one, but a Goolgasian goal with 38 seconds to go in the third put the visitors back on top 12-10.
Peterson cut the Dean deficit in half with a goal in the early moments of the final quarter. After Curry scored the next two goals, Gaunt answered with two of her own to make it a 1-goal game again. Goolgasian put an insurance goal on the board for Curry with 2:16 on the clock as the Colonels held on for the 15-13 victory.
