PURCHASE, N.Y. – February 28, 2024 – The Dean College men's lacrosse team dropped its season opener at Manhattanville, 16-14, Wednesday evening.

Tonight's game was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

After the Valiants opened the scoring less than two minutes into the contest, Dean answered with four goals from four different players to lead 4-1 after the first quarter.

The Bulldogs carried the momentum into the second and pushed the lead to 6-1 after goals by the Alvarez-Segee brothers. Manhattanville finished the second in similar fashion to the way Dean finished the first with four goals, sprinkled around a Bulldogs goal, by four different players to make the score 7-5 at the half.

The teams traded the first four goals of the third before the Bulldogs took a 4-goal advantage at 11-7 with 4:58 on the clock. The home team then pulled one goal closer, but a pair of tallies by Diego Alvarez-Segee in the final two minutes pushed the Dean advantage to 13-8 heading into the fourth.

The Valiants erupted for eight goals and held Dean to just one in the final quarter to storm all the way back and win their third game of the season. The Bulldogs held a 14-11 lead with less than five minutes to play. Larkin tied things up at 14-14 with 2:21 and Palladino gave Manhattanville its first lead of the game seven seconds later. Munson tacked on an insurance goal with 1:16 on the clock en route to the 2-goal victory.
