WENHAM, Mass.- The Dean College Bulldogs dropped both games of the Gordon College tip-off tournament, falling to the hosts 94-42 on Friday night, and losing to Cost Guard Academy 114-28 on Saturday afternoon. Dean drops to 2-2 on the year after opening the season 2-0.
The Bulldogs fell behind early against Gordon, digging themselves into a 32-2 hole after the first period. Dean bounced back in the second quarter, outscoring the Scots 15-14, but Gordon outscored the Bulldogs by ten in the third period to put the game out of reach.
Dean was led by sophomore
Abi Boutin (Rocky Hill. Conn.) who finished with 13 points and four rebounds. Sophomore
Kendrah Doane (New Salem, Mass.) added seven points and five boards.
In the second game, the Bulldogs were overpowered by the United States Coast Guard Academy. USCGA took a 29-10 lead after the first period, and extended it even further in the second frame, outscoring the Bulldogs 29-4 to take a 57-14 lead into the halftime break. The point differential in the second half was identical, with Coast Guard outscoring the Bulldogs 57-14 in the third and fourth quarters as well to reach to the 114-28 final score.
Boutin again led the Bulldogs, this time with ten points. Senior
Maranda Cournoyer (Millville, Mass.) scored seven while first-year
Nevaeh Smith (Springfield, Mass.) scored eight points off the bench.
Dean is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Curry College for a 6 p.m. non-conference tip-off.
