FRANKLIN, Mass.- After opening the season with two wins where the team scored 90+ points, the Dean College Bulldogs found a different way to prevail, earning their third straight victory to open the 2024-25 season, 64-55 over Fitchburg State in a low-scoring contest at Pieri Gym on Saturday,
The two teams were knotted at 31 at the halftime break. Seven minutes into the second half, the teams were tied again, this time at 41. Another tie ensued at 48, 53, and 55, before the Bulldogs took control. Dean scored the last nine points, holding the Falcons scoreless for the final five and a half minutes. Four different Bulldogs scored down the stretch, with
Tyler Nordstrom contributing a jumper and
Greg Farrow (Milwaukee, Wis.) drilling a three pointer.
Billy Ray Barnes III (Carson, Calif.) scored a bucket and added a free throw, and
Christian Yeates (Atlanta, Ga.) chipped in a final free throw to seal the game.
Randy Vazquez (Methuen, Mass.) led the Bulldogs with 13 points, while adding eight rebounds.
Ja'maine Davenport (Mays Landing, N.J.) came off the bench to score 12 points in only 13 minutes. Nordstom finished with 10 while Yeates had nine. Barnes and Farrow both recorded seven, with Barnes adding six boards.
Dean is back in action on Tuesday when they host Lesley at 6 p.m.
