Men's Basketball Improves to 4-0, Defeats Lesley 89-70

FRANKLIN, Mass.- The Dean College Bulldogs continued their torrid start, rattling off their fourth straight victory of the season by defeating Lesley 89-70 at Pieri Gym on Tuesday night.

The first half was tight throughout, with Dean taking an early lead and holding it for most of the period, but never extending their advantage to more than six. Late in the first half, the Lynx tied the game at 29, then took the lead at 31-29. The Bulldogs responded, however, scoring the last eight points of the quarter, capped by a last-second put-back layup from junior Billy Ray Barnes III (Carson, Calif.) to give the Bulldogs the 37-31 lead at the half.

Dean exploded early in the second half, extending their lead to 15 with 12 minutes to go on back to back layups from Christian Yeates (Atlanta, Ga.). Later, consecutive threes from Yeates and senior Greg Farrow (Milwaukee, Wis.) extended the Bulldog lead to 19 and put the game out of reach.

Sophomore Frankie Idlett (Miami, Fla.) led all scorers with 22 points on 9-16 from the field, while adding seven rebounds and three steals. Barnes added 19 and nine boards, while Yeates had 15. Farrow scored nine, with seven rebounds and four steals, while Ja'maine Davenport  (Mays Landing, N.J.) came off the bench to add seven points and nine rebounds.

Lesley shot 48% from the field to Dean's 41, while doubling the Bulldogs' 3 point shooting percentage (30%-15%). Dean made up the difference by holding a 24-10 edge in points off turnovers, and 28-11 lead in second chance points. The Bulldogs forced 22 turnovers while committing only nine.

Dean is back in action on Saturday when they host University of Maine-Farmington at 1 p.m. at Pieri Gym as part of a doubleheader with women's basketball.
