FRANKLIN, Mass.- The Dean College Bulldogs women's basketball team is 2-0 for the first time in seven years. Dean defeated Lesley University, 70-56 on Wednesday evening, moving to 2-0 in head coach
Megan Dixon's first two games at the helm.
Senior
Alexandria Paquet (Santa Maria, Calif.) dominated for Dean, scoring 22 points and adding 17 rebounds. Fellow senior
Tori Viau (Johnston, R.I.) scored 21 points, her second straight 20 point game to open the season after dropping a career-high 37 points on opening night.Â
In a tightly contested first quarter, Paquet started hot, scoring 11 of the Bulldogs first 20 points to help Dean to a four point lead at the break. Lesley countered in the second quarter, outscoring Dean 12-10 to close the gap to two at halftime (30-28). The Bulldogs held the Lynx to 4-20 shooting in the third quarter, extending their lead to six going into the fourth period. In the final frame, the Bulldogs exploded, outscoring the visitors 28-19 while shooting 55% from the floor. Viau caught fire down the stretch, scoring 13 of her 21 in the fourth quarter.Â
Abi Boutin (Rocky Hill, Conn.) added ten points as well as five rebounds for the Bulldogs, while sophomore
Kendrah Doane (New Salem, Mass.) scored seven points, grabbed eight boards, and dished out four assists.Â
With the win, the Bulldogs (2-0) have now tied last year's win total only two games into the 2024-25 season. Dean is back in action this weekend, competing in a tournament at Gordon College. They will face Gordon on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and Coast Guard on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.Â
