FRANKLIN, Mass.- The Dean College Bulldogs continued their hot start to the season, outpacing New England College 94-57 in men's basketball action on Monday afternoon at Pieri Gym. The win improved the Bulldogs to 2-0 on the season while NEC fell to 0-2.
Dean led by ten at the half, 41-31. The Pilgrims opened the second half with back to back buckets, trimming the deficit to 41-35. From there, the Bulldogs took off, ripping off a 20 point tun that turned a six point lead into a 26 point advantage and put the game away. Junior
Billy Ray Barnes III (Carson, Ca.) and junior
PJ Brinkman (Chula Vista, Calif.) highlighted the run, with six and eight points respectively, with Barnes adding two assists. A few minutes later, the Bulldogs extended their lead to 31 on a fast break layup from junior
Christian Yeates (Atlanta, Ga.). From there, the Bulldogs cruised to the 37 point victory.Â
Yeates led all scorers with 27 points on 10-16 from the field. Senior
Greg Farrow (Milwaukee, Wi.) added 12 points on 3-6 from three point range, while
Frankie Idlett (Miami. Fla.) and Barnes both scored ten. Barnes also added 12 rebounds for his first double-double of the season, contributing six assists,a team-high, as well. Brinkman finished with eight points on 4-6 from the field.Â
Dean is back in action on Saturday when they host Fitchburg State at 1 p.m.Â
