PAXTON, Mass.- The Dean College Bulldogs women's soccer team scored two goals in the final ten minutes, erasing a 2-0 deficit to earn a 2-2 draw at Anna Maria on Wednesday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action. The draw, Dean's second straight, moves the Bulldogs to 2-7-3 (1-6-3 GNAC). Anna Maria shifts to 1-6-4 (1-4-4 GNAC).
In the 82nd minute, with the Bulldogs trailing 2-0, senior
Lisette Ayala (Chicopee, Mass.) broke the Bulldogs scoring drought with an unassisted tally to cut the deficit to 2-1. Moments later, in the 83rd minute, junior
Miro McIntyre Clere(Sydney, Australia), on an assist from sophomore
Kacie Consolini (Stafford Springs, Conn.) scored the equalizer.
After a scoreless first half, the AmCats took initial control of the contest with two goals in the first fifteen minutes of the final frame. Kayla Berthiaume broke the ice iwith a goal n the 60th minute, followed by a score from Macy Hutchinson, who had assisted on Berhiaume's goal, four minutes later. The game remained scoreless for the next 18 minutes until Ayala broke through for Dean.
Ayala's goal was her team-leading fifth, and her, also team-leading 11th point. For Mcintyre Clere, her goal was first of the season and first of her Bulldog career. Senior goalkeeper
Haley Gaunt (Johnston R.I.) made nine saves in ninety minutes of action.
The late game heroics resembled the Bulldogs last outing with the AmCats. In their matchup in 2023, Dean trailed 3-0 at halftime and for a considerable portion of the second half, before catching fire down the stretch, scoring four straight goals for a 4-3 victory.
