FRANKLIN, Mass.- The Dean College Bulldogs men's soccer team fell to Regis College 4-1 on Friday afternoon in front of a great crowd on Homecoming Weekend at Longley Field.
After Dean controlled possession for much of the first ten minutes, Regis found the back of the net on one of their first chances when
Haroun Mafhoum scored off a pass from
Nolan McMahon in the 17th minute to give the Pride the early lead. Regis scored two more in the first half to pad their lead, both assisted by Mafhoum, one from
Aidan Falvey, and another from
Dane Peterson.
Dean bounced back at the start of the second half, scoring a goal to trim the lead when sophomore
Drew Folley (Portland, Maine) muscled home a bounding ball off a throw-in from
Jake Richard (Townsend, Mass.) Moments later, Bulldog keeper
Jake Godwin (Norwalk, Conn.) made a diving save on a penalty kick to retain the Bulldog momentum, and keep the hosts in the mix.
Regis responded in the 79th minute when Joey Davila scored unassisted to put the game out of reach.
Godwin's nine saves today surpassed a milestone, giving him over 100 on the season. Folley's goal was his first in a Bulldog uniform.
Dean is back in action for the final game of the season on Tuesday when they host Albertus Magnus for senior day at 3 p.m. at Longley Field.
