NEW LONDON, Conn.- The Colby-Sawyer Chargers controlled the action, toppling the Dean College Bulldogs 5-0 on Saturday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.
The Chargers struck for their first goal in the first quarter, ten minutes into the action when
Cecillia Ponzini scored unassisted for a 1-0 lead.
Brooke Farquhar scored the next two Colby-Sawyer goals, one in the second quarter, assisted by
Alyssa Slocum, and one in the third, assisted by
Abby Olden, to push the Charger advantage to 3-0.
Late in the third quarter,
Courtney Larson scored on an assist by
Chloe Makela to push the lead to 4-0. Olden added an insurance goal in the fourth for the 5-0 final.
Colby-Sawyer outshot the Bulldogs 14-5 and held a 6-2 lead in penalty corners. Dean goalie
Sara Gardner (Hampstead, Md.) made six saves in 60 minutes of action. Five different Bulldogs recorded a shot (all on goal).
Dean (7-9 overall, 4-5 GNAC) is back in action on Tuesday when they host Simmons at 3:30 p.m.
