CHICOPEE, Mass. – January 6, 2024 – The Dean College women's basketball team lost a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) road game at Elms, 75-42, Saturday afternoon.
Dean (2-10, 0-3 GNAC) steps out of conference play on Monday with a 2 p.m. tip at Wellesley. Elms (6-6, 1-2 GNAC) hosts Emerson on Monday at 7 p.m.
First-year
Abi Boutin (Rocky Hill, Conn.) led the Dean offense with 10 points to go with seven rebounds. Senior
Cat Thomas (Woodbridge, Conn.) tallied eight points, 10 rebounds and three steals. First-year
Kendrah Doane (New Salem, Mass.) finished with seven points and eight boards. Junior
Tori Viau (Johnston, R.I.) made 8-of-9 free throws in the game.
1st Quarter
- The Bulldogs kept the game tight at 9-7 late in the quarter, but Elms went on a 7-2 run to lead 16-9 after 10 minutes.
- Viau had four points for Dean.
2nd Quarter
- The second quarter was closely played as Elms held just a 16-14 edge in scoring to take a 32-23 lead into the half.
- Boutin and Thomas each scored four points to pace the Bulldogs.
- Each team made five buckets, but Elms had three makes from beyond the arc.
3rd Quarter
- The Blazers pulled away in the third with a 20-6 advantage on the scoreboard.
- Doane had four points.
- Elms made three more three-pointers and had a 10-9 edge in rebounding.
4th Quarter
- Boutin scored six points for Dean, while Elms had seven players in the scoring column.
- The Blazers shot 53.8% in the quarter, while the Bulldogs went 4-for-10 from the field.
- Elms outscored Dean 23-13 in the frame.
