AUGUSTA, Maine – January 17, 2024 – The Dean College men's basketball team dropped a 94-88 decision to the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) at the Augusta Civic Center Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs (6-11) resume conference action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. tip at Norwich. UMA improves to 11-7.

AJ Weston (Kansas City, Mo.) scored 19 points and added eight assists to lead Dean. Senior
Charles Walker (Princeton, N.C.) finished with 17 points. Senior
Jayden Madise (Palmdale, Calif.) recorded his second straight double-double and fourth overall with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Yonas Medfu led all players with 25 points. Trevor Beals scored 15 points, while Isaiah Searles posted a double-double of 12 points and 14 boards.
The Moose took an early 6-point lead (12-6), the biggest advantage of the half by either team. A Weston three-pointer put the Bulldogs on top (15-14) at the 11:37 mark. The home team later used a 7-2 spurt to take a 31-26 lead and force a Dean timeout. The Bulldogs responded with three straight layups to retake the lead. Berk Evduzen sent UMA to the locker room with a 44-40 lead after a layup at the buzzer.
Each team made 18 field goals and grabbed 17 rebounds in the half. UMA shot 54.5% from the floor and made three more shots beyond the arc than Dean to help secure the lead. Weston led all players with 10 points and five assists in the first 20 minutes.
The Bulldogs took a 47-46 lead early in the second half. UMA then slowly built a 12-point lead at 67-55 with 11:29 left to play. Dean chipped away and pulled within four at 73-69 with 5:30 after a Walker three-pointer. The Moose responded with a 13-5 run to gain control with less than three minutes to play. Dean trailed by 15 with 53 seconds left but did not go quietly and finished the game on an 11-2 run to make the final 94-88.
