FRANKLIN, Mass. – January 16, 2024 – The Dean College women's basketball team lost a Tuesday night Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) home game to Lasell 68-47.
Dean (2-14, 0-6 GNAC) plays a 3 p.m. GNAC game at Norwich on Saturday. Lasell (8-6, 3-2 GNAC) steps out of conference on Thursday for a 7 p.m. road game at Fisher.
First-year
Abi Boutin (Rocky Hill, Conn.) led the Bulldogs with a career-high 15 points. She added six rebounds. Senior
Cat Thomas (Woodbridge, Conn.) contributed 11 points and seven rebounds. First-year
Makayla Swan (Middlebury, Vt.) pulled down a game best nine rebounds.
Sophomore Shirle Major (Worcester, Mass.) led three Lasers in double figures with 16 points. Sophomore Kiara Cerruti (Canton, Mass.) added 12 points, while sophomore Laura Johnson (Groton, Conn.) rounded out the top scorers with 11.
1st Quarter
- First-year Kendrah Doane (New Salem, Mass.) made a three-pointer to begin the game for Dean.
- Lasell then finished the quarter with a 21-3 run to lead 21-6 after 10 minutes.
- Cerruti led all players with seven points.
- Lasell shot 50% from the floor and the 3-point line.
2nd Quarter
- Major poured in nine points to help the Lasers increase their halftime lead to 37-14.
- Doane made another long ball for the Bulldogs for six points at the half.
- Lasell finished the first 20 minutes with 45.7% shooting and 22 points in the paint.
- Swan led all players with six first-half rebounds.
3rd Quarter
- The Bulldogs outscored Lasell 17-13 to cut the deficit to 50-31.
- Each team shot 33.3% from the floor on 5-of-15 shooting.
- Dean made 6-of-8 free throws and had a 13-7 advantage in rebounds.
- Thomas had 10 points in the quarter for the Bulldogs.
4th Quarter
- Both teams shot the ball well in a high-scoring, back-and-forth final quarter.
- Boutin scored 12 of Dean's 16 points in the frame.
- Lasell came away with an 18-16 edge in scoring to account for the 68-47 final.
- Johnson had six points for the Lasers.
- Each team had eight rebounds in the quarter.
