PURCHASE, N.Y. – September 3, 2023 – The Dean College field hockey team was defeated at Manhattanville, 5-2, in a non-conference contest Sunday afternoon.

Dean (0-2) plays its first home game of the season on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. against Bridgewater State. Manhattanville (1-1) will host Drew on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs trailed 5-0 heading into the final quarter but kept battling and found the back of the cage twice. First-year Shea Cassani (Belgrade, Maine) notched the team's first goal of the season and the first of her career off an assist by first-year Keira Houdegbe (West Lebanon, N.H.). Dean wasn't done as first-year Emily Kilpatrick (Marion, Mass.) registered her first collegiate goal off a feed from sophomore Sydnee Ramos (New Bedford, Mass.).

The Valiants received goals from Alyssa Monahan and Keira Guinan in the first quarter for a 2-0 lead after 15 minutes.

Megan Keaveney added a goal in the third for the home team.

Manhattanville took a 5-0 lead in the third quarter with the second goal of the game by Monahan and Felicity Williams' first tally of the season.

Dean senior goalie Mackenzie Fillion (New Bedford, Mass.) allowed five goals and made nine saves in three quarters of action. Sophomore Allie Stockwell (Burrillville, R.I.) played the final quarter.
