FRANKLIN, Mass. – September 27, 2023 – The Dean College men's soccer team scored three first half goals en route to a 3-2 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over Mitchell on Wednesday afternoon at the Longley Athletic Complex.

The Bulldogs (6-2-1, 4-2-1 GNAC) will look to push their win streak to five with a 1 p.m. road game on Saturday at Colby-Sawyer. Mitchell (2-3-3, 2-3-2 GNAC) will continue its 5-game road trip on Saturday with a 5 p.m. match at Anna Maria.

Dean took a 1-0 lead eight minutes into the match when senior Shavar Champagnie (West Yarmouth, Mass.) set up sophomore teammate Jake Richard (Townsend, Mass.) with a scoring opportunity. Richard sent a tailing ball from 25 yards out into the right corner of the net for his second goal of the season.

Five minutes later, senior Reinorf Kusi (Malden, Mass.) notched his first goal of the season. Kusi found the ball in the box, dribbled into the six and snuck the ball under the Mitchell keeper for the 2-0 advantage.

Mitchell cut the deficit in half with a goal in the 32nd minute, taking advantage of a misplay deep in the Dean end. Freshman Nathan Da Cruz (Seymour, Conn.) finished a feed from junior Dylan Lucey (Lebanon, Conn.) for his first collegiate goal.

The Bulldogs responded in the 41st minute to retake a 2-goal lead. Senior Luke Palmer (Windsor Locks, Conn.) scored his team leading fifth goal off a nifty pass from sophomore Brian Allen (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.).

The Mariners pulled within a goal, a little more than two minutes into the second half. Da Cruz and Lucey connected once again, but Lucey found the back of the net with his fourth of the season.

Dean senior goalie Alberto Gonzalez Del Rio (Madrid, Spain) earned his fifth win of the season with four saves. Mitchell goalie Jesse Jenkins (Windsor, Conn.) had three saves in the loss.
