HENNIKER, N.H. – September 23, 2023 – Junior Lea Bettencourt (Peabody, Mass.) scored on a corner kick in the first half to lift the Dean College women's soccer team past New England College, 1-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (4-3-1, 3-2-1 GNAC) return home to host Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. New England College (0-7-1, 0-6 GNAC) hits the road on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match at Simmons.

In the 20th minute, the Bulldogs earned a corner kick. Bettencourt stepped up to take the kick and sent a bending ball towards goal that went over the NEC keeper and into the net for the 1-0 lead. The goal was Bettencourt's third of the season.

Junior goalie Haley Gaunt (Johnston, R.I.) earned her third shutout of the season for the Bulldogs after making four saves this afternoon. Stephanie Bronowicki finished with eight saves for the Pilgrims.

Dean outshot NEC 20-14 and held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
