LEXINGTON, Mass. – September 1, 2023 – The Dean College men's soccer team scored three times in the second half to secure a 3-1 season opening victory at Lesley.  
The Bulldogs have won three straight against Lesley, including the past two on opening day by a 3-1 score.
Dean (1-0) returns to action on Tuesday with a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest at Saint Joseph's (Maine) at 6 p.m. Lesley (0-1) hosts Keene State on Sunday at 4 p.m.
Lesley scored the lone goal of the first half off the foot of Ajauni Monteque. Dean outshot the Lynx 14-5 in the first 45 minutes but could not find the back of the net.
The Bulldogs continued to apply the pressure in the second half with a 17-2 advantage in shots.
In the 64th minute, Dean broke through with the equalizer when senior 
Luke Palmer (Windsor Locks, Conn.) volleyed a ball from sophomore 
Seamus Doherty (Chelmsford, Mass.) past the Lesley keeper.
Less than three minutes later, senior 
Ryan Bell (Palmyra, Maine) headed in a set piece sent in by Doherty.
The Bulldogs added an insurance goal in the 84th minute with a tally by sophomore 
Melvin Alves (Brockton, Mass.).

Jake Godwin (Norwalk, Conn.) allowed one goal and made two saves for the win. Josiah Williams made seven saves in the loss for the Lynx.
