MILTON, Mass. – April 6, 2023 – The Dean College baseball team dropped a non-conference tilt at Curry, 4-1, in a quick 9-inning game Thursday afternoon.
Dean (2-18) resumes conference action on Saturday with a home doubleheader against Albertus Magnus.
Curry (8-12) put a run on the board in the first on a ground out by Joan Peralta (Brownsville, N.Y.).
The Colonels doubled their lead in the fourth on a wild pitch.
In the fifth, sophomore Tommy Marshall (Hanson, Mass.) gave Curry a 3-0 lead with a sacrifice fly. The visitors added a fourth run on a bases loaded walk.
Dean's lone run came in the sixth when first-year
Jacob Paschetto (East Longmeadow, Mass.) singled home first-year
Ben Losee (Bloomington, Minn.).
Andrew Hammer (South Salem, NY) earned the win with 7 IP, 1 ER, 4 H and 4 K. Justin Schloss (Brooklyn, N.Y.) notched the save with a clean ninth inning.
Fabian Barnett (Springfield, Mass.) suffered the loss. He gave up two earned runs on four hits and three walks in four innings of work. First-year
Hunter Espinosa (East Haddam, Conn.) pitched well out of the bullpen with 3 1/3 scoreless innings with one hit and three strikeouts.
The teams combined for nine hits with Curry recording five knocks and Dean four. Paschetto had two of the Bulldogs' hits.
