PAXTON, Mass. – April 5, 2023 – The Dean College women's lacrosse team cruised to an 18-7 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) road victory at Anna Maria on Wednesday evening.
Dean (5-5, 4-3 GNAC) travels to Emmanuel on Saturday for a noon start.
Senior
Maire Brown (Huntington, N.Y.) led all players with seven points on five goals and two assists. Brown eclipsed 100 career goals and now has 104. She also grabbed 14 draw controls. Sophomore
Nina Medeiros (Fairhaven, Mass.) recorded four goals and two assists, while senior
Jazzy Sztyler-Magee (Burlington, Conn.) also scored four times.
First-year goalie
Allie Stockwell (Burrillville, R.I.) stopped 16 shots to pick up her fifth win of the season.
Dean didn't waste any time as senior
Allie Bezio (Wellfleet, Mass.) scored 38 seconds in the game. The Bulldogs continued to roll scoring six more goals before Anna Maria stopped the run. Brown notched her second goal of the quarter to send Dean into the second with an 8-1 lead.
A Medeiros goal pushed the Dean lead to 9-1, but Anna Maria chipped away by scoring the next three. The Bulldogs were able to sandwich a pair of goals around an AMCATS tally in the final minute to lead 11-5 at the half.
The Bulldogs scored the first three goals of the third, including a pair by Brown, to create separation at 14-5. Anna Maria got one back late in the frame to make the score 14-6.
Dean outscored Anna Maria 4-1 in the final quarter to secure the 18-7 road win.
