Bulldogs Down Norwich 14-10 on Senior Day

FRANKLIN, Mass. – April 25, 2023 – The Dean College men's lacrosse team celebrated senior day with a 14-10 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over Norwich at Grant Field on Tuesday afternoon.

Dean (9-5, 5-5 GNAC) and Norwich (6-11, 4-6 GNAC) have each earned a spot in the GNAC Tournament, which begins on Saturday, and will await seedings at the conclusion of play Tuesday night.

Prior to the game, Dean honored seniors James Rollins (Old Lyme, Conn.), Peyton Emrick (Somers, Conn.), Brad Aubin (Glastonbury, Conn.), Anthony List (Charlton, Mass.), Adam Breton (Litchfield, N.H.), Matthew Pacheco (Warwick, R.I.), Damon Shute (Gilford, N.H.), Greg Centeio (Fairhaven, Mass.), Jagan Daughters (College Station, Texas) and Alex Huber (Sacramento, Calif.) for their years of hard work and dedication to Dean College and the men's lacrosse program.

Dean junior Diego Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, Mass.) led all players with eight points on six goals and two assists. Junior Alec Speirs (Old Lyme, Conn.) finished with three goals and an assist, while Centeio added a hat trick.

Junior Tyler Seidel (Centreville, Md.) led the Cadets with three goals and three assists. Junior Mitchell McKay (Lynnfield, Mass.) added three goals, while sophomore Luke Pineo (Cotuit, Mass.) registered two goals and an assist. Junior faceoff specialist Thomas Muraski (Keller, Texas) won 15-of-26 in the circle and picked up seven ground balls.

James Rollins made seven saves to earn the win for Dean. Junior Thomas Kelliher (Shrewsbury, Mass.) had eight stops in the loss.

Dean controlled the action in the first quarter and scored the first three goals. Norwich halted the Bulldogs momentum with a goal by Matt Meehan (Norfolk, Mass.) with 12 seconds left to make the score 3-1 heading into the second.

Alvarez-Segee scored twice to open the second frame before Seidel answered for Norwich with 6:24 on the clock. Dean sophomore Owen Brine (Lebanon, N.H.) gave the home team a 4-goal advantage, with his lone goal of the game, for a 6-2 Bulldogs lead at the half.

The teams traded the first four goals of the third to keep the margin at four goals (8-4), but Dean rattled off the next five goals, three by Centeio, to take a commanding lead. Norwich kept fighting and responded by scoring three goals in the final 41 seconds of the quarter to cut the deficit to 13-7.

The Cadets continued the rally early in the fourth with three more unanswered goals to pull within 13-10 with 8:05 left to play. The score would remain the same until Alvarez-Segee potted an insurance goal with less than a minute to play to help secure the 14-10 victory.
