FRANKLIN, Mass. – April 22, 2023 – The Dean College baseball team dropped a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) games to Elms on senior day at the Longley Athletic Complex. Elms took game one 7-3 in eight innings and game two 5-0.
Prior to today's doubleheader, Dean honored seniors
Jameson Carroll (Fitchburg, Mass.),
Brian Dovidio (Ramsey, N.J.),
DeMarcus King (Austin, Texas),
Owen Liscio (Norwalk, Conn.),
Brayden McLaughlin (Forest Grove, Ore.) and
Andrew Sullivan (Agawam, Mass.) for their years of hard work and dedication to Dean College and the baseball program.
Dean (8-24, 5-9 GNAC) will play at Rivier on Tuesday. Elms (19-11, 9-5 GNAC) hosts Lasell on Monday.
GAME ONE – Elms 7, Dean 3 (8 inn.)
Elms got on the board in the first on a sac fly from senior Tyler Galenski.
Senior Aaron Young (Somers, Conn.) doubled the Elms lead with an RBI double in the third.
In the bottom half of the third, Dean plated a run on a sac fly by first-year
Jacob Paschetto (East Longmeadow, Mass.).
Dean tied the game in the fourth on an RBI single by first-year
Tyler Giambra (Prospect, Conn.) that scored Sullivan.
Galenski hit another sac fly in the fifth to put Elms on top by one.
The Bulldogs answered in their end of the fifth with a run on a single by Sullivan.
Two scoreless innings sent the game to the eighth where the Blazers struck for four runs. Junior Seamus Higgins (Rutland, Mass.) had the big hit with a two-run single to left.
Sullivan, Liscio and Giambra each finished with two hits to lead the Dean batters.
GAME TWO – Elms 5, Dean 0
Elms finished game two with a 10-3 advantage in the hit column but plated the game's first run on a bases loaded walk in the second by George Chaya Jr. (Methuen, Mass.).
The visitors went in front by a 2-0 score after an RBI single by Justin Miller (Prospect, Conn.) in the third.
In the sixth, the Blazers doubled their lead with a run scoring double from Trevor Nohilly (Bristol, Conn.) and a sac fly from Chase Prestia (Newington, Conn.).
Elms tacked on a run in the seventh on an error.
Senior Austin Roy (Cromwell, Conn.) earned the complete game 3-hit, shutout for the Blazers.
McLaughlin, King and sophomore
Seth Cruz (East Freetown, Mass.) had one hit apiece for the Bulldogs.
