CARY, N.C. - March 5, 2023 - The Dean College baseball team began its 2023 season with a pair of games in North Carolina at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.
The Bulldogs (0-2) lost 12-1 to Hobart (1-1) in the first game of the day before William Peace (4-5) came away with a 12-3 win in the night cap. Dean and William Peace will play another game on Monday at 1 p.m.
HOBART 12, DEAN 1 (7 inn.)
Senior
Brayden McLaughlin (Forest Grove, Ore.) knocked in the Bulldogs' lone run of the contest on an RBI single in the fourth. First-year
Jacob Paschetto (East Longmeadow, Mass.) came around to score after reaching base with his first collegiate hit.
Senior
Owen Liscio (Norwalk, Conn.) went 1-for-2 with a walk.
Sophomore
Danny Goyette (Holliston, Mass.) tossed two scoreless innings of relief.
Hobart plated five in the third frame, one in the fourth and six in the fifth to account for the 12-1 final in seven innings.
First-year
Domenic Brazeau (Warwick, R.I.) earned the start on the mound in his collegiate debut. He was saddled with the loss after two innings of work, but did not surrender an earned run.

William Peace got on the board in the bottom of the first, but Dean responded with a pair in the top of the fourth. With the bases loaded, junior
Kyle Lancaster (Dartmouth, Mass.) doubled to left to bring in Paschetto and senior
Brian Dovidio (Ramsey, N.J.) who each reached base with a single.
The Pacers knotted the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth.
William Peace took a 5-2 lead in the sixth scoring on a wild pitch and a two-run homer. The lead went to 8-2 with three mores runs in the seventh.
Dean got a run back in the eighth on an RBI single from sophomore
Seth Cruz (East Freetown, Mass.).
The home team tacked on four runs in the bottom of the eighth to secure the 12-3 victory.

Joey Bossinas (Ossining, N.Y.) had two hits apiece for Dean. First-year
Nick Amendolara (Bayville, N.Y.) notched his first collegiate hit for the Bulldogs.
