CARY, N.C. - March 6, 2023 - The Dean College baseball team dropped a 14-6 decision to William Peace at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.
The Bulldogs (0-3) travels down to Florida for four more games during the team's annual spring break trip. Dean will play Bluffton on Wednesday in Punta Gorda, Fla.
The Pacers led 7-0 after four innings with three runs in the second, two in the third and two in the fourth.
Dean got on the board in the fifth when first-year
Colin Favata (Syosset, N.Y.) scored on an error.
The Bulldogs chipped away with three more runs in the sixth. Favata recorded his first collegiate hit and knocked in first-year
Tyler Giambra (Prospect, Conn.). Sophomore
James Galati (Eastchester, N.Y.) then knocked in a pair with a single to center to make the score 7-4.
William Peace responded by scoring seven times in the bottom of the sixth to put the game out of reach.
Dean added two runs in the ninth, but eventually fell 14-6. First-year
Kiefer Culligan (South Windsor, Conn.) notched his first collegiate hit by singling in first-year
Matteo Perciballi (North Hills, N.Y.) who reached on his first hit. Culligan then came around on the first hit by
Tyler Giambra.
Senior
DeMarcus King (Austin, Texas) recorded a pair of hits in three at-bats. First-year
Jacob Paschetto (East Longmeadow, Mass.) added two hits.
First-year
Zach Handfield (Auburn, Mass.) tossed a scoreless inning of relief in his first appearance.
