Emmanuel began the match with six straight points, including three aces. After a Mike Nelson (South Windsor, Conn.) ace pulled the Bulldogs within 18-8, Emmanuel finished the set on a 7-2 run, capped by a Guest kill.

The Saints led 12-7 in the second when they rattled off six consecutive points to take command. Kills by Martins and Carlson made the score 19-10 before Emmanuel used a 4-1 spurt to go in front 23-11. Dean kept battling to score four in a row, but the visitors came away with the 25-17 victory.

The third set was back and forth with seven ties and three lead changes. Trailing 13-10, Dean scored three straight, capped by a Saski Sayue (Providence, R.I.) kill to knot the set.
