DUDLEY, Mass. – March 27, 2023 – The Dean College women's lacrosse team fell at Nichols 19-5 in non-conference action Monday afternoon.
Dean (3-4) has a quick turnaround with a 5 p.m. game at MCLA on Tuesday.
Sophomore
Haley Gaunt (Johnston, R.I.) had a couple of goals to lead Dean. Senior
Maire Brown (Huntington, N.Y.) contributed a goal, an assist and a game best 10 draw controls.
Nichols (6-0) was led by Hadley Houghton's four goals. Three other players scored three times.
First-year goalie
Allie Stockwell (Burrillville, R.I.) made nine saves for Dean in the loss. Keri Tremblay had 14 saves and allowed three goals in 45 minutes, while Jessica Volpi allowed two goals with one save in 15 minutes of work.
Sophomore
Nina Medeiros (Fairhaven, Mass.) opened the scoring to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead, four minutes into the quarter. Nichols answered with four goals in the remainder of the frame to take a 4-1 advantage into the second.
The Bison turned things on in the second by outscoring Dean 8-2 for a 12-3 lead at the half.
The home team added three goals in the third for a 15-3 advantage after 45 minutes.
Gaunt and senior
Jazzy Sztyler-Magee (Burlington, Conn.) scored for the Bulldogs to begin the final quarter, but Nichols ended the game with four straight goals to win 19-5.
