Men's Lacrosse Cruises to 17-2 GNAC Win at Regis

WESTON, Mass. – March 25, 2023 – The Dean College men's lacrosse team cruised to a 17-2 victory over Regis in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Saturday afternoon.

Dean (4-2, 1-2 GNAC) hosts Southern Maine on Monday at 4 p.m. to play a rescheduled game from March 4. Regis (3-2, 0-2 GNAC) travels to Anna Maria on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Sophomore Owen Brine (Lebanon, N.H.) led eight Dean goal scorers with five. Junior Diego Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, Mass.) tallied four goals, while senior Matthew Pacheco (Warwick, R.I.) and senior Greg Centeio (Fairhaven, Mass.) each scored twice. Junior Tyler Benedetto (Jupiter, Fla.) won 14-of-17 faceoffs.

Matt Cabassa (Weymouth, Mass.) and first-year Nick Klein (Buxton, Maine) each had a goal for the Pride.

Dean senior goalie James Rollins (Old Lyme, Conn.) earned the win with one goal allowed and four saves in 45 minutes. Sophomore Jake Sock (Warwick, R.I.) played the fourth quarter and allowed one goal with four saves. Sophomore Robby Fuller (Wolfeboro, N.H.) allowed 15 goals and made eight saves in three quarters of action for Regis. Devin Hammon (Chicopee, Mass.) had one save with two goals allowed in the final quarter.

The Bulldogs scored off the opening faceoff and never looked back. Sophomore Jason Richard (Holden, Mass.) finished a feed from sophomore Aidan McCarthy (Whitman, Mass.) 37 seconds into the game. Dean scored six more times to take a 7-0 lead into the second quarter.

After 10:15 of scoreless action in the second, Brine struck for his second goal of the game to put Dean on top by an 8-0 score. Alvarez-Segee later added a man-up tally for the Bulldogs for a 9-0 lead after 30 minutes.

Brine continued to shine for the Bulldogs with three goals in the third quarter as Dean outscored the Pride 6-1 to take a 15-1 advantage into the fourth.

Dean pushed the lead to 17-1 with a pair of Pacheco late in the final quarter, before Klein registered a goal for Regis to make the final score 17-2.
