WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – February 11, 2023 – The Dean College women's basketball team was defeated by the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), 75-20, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) road game Saturday afternoon.
Dean (0-21, 0-16 GNAC) travels to Lasell on Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. tip with the Lasers. USJ (15-9, 11-6 GNAC) concludes its regular season at Johnson & Wales on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
Sophomore
Maranda Cournoyer (Millville, Mass.) led Dean with six points. Sophomore
Cat Thomas (Woodbridge, Conn.) finished with seven rebounds, two assists and a bucket.
Junior Khalise Harris (South Windsor, Conn.) and Maya Slisz (New Britain, Conn.) led USJ with 11 points apiece. Harris added eight steals and a couple of blocks. Junior Jordan Ouellette (Bristol, Conn.) grabbed a game best 10 rebounds.
The home team took a 21-4 lead after 10 minutes and carried the momentum into the second to outscore Dean 17-4 for a 38-8 halftime advantage.
After an 18-2 margin for the Blue Jays in the third quarter, Dean came away with 10 points in the fourth but ultimately fell by a 75-20 final.
USJ shot 49.2% for the game and scored 48 points in the paint.
