Men's Volleyball Falls to NVU-Johnson and King's

FRANKLIN, Mass. – February 11, 2023 – The Dean College men's volleyball team dropped a pair of 3-0 matches at a home tri-match Saturday with King's and Northern Vermont University – Johnson.

The Bulldogs fell by scores of 25-5, 27-25 and 25-19 to Johnson (5-1) and then 25-6, 25-3 and 25-8 to King's (13-0).

Dean (1-4) remains home on Tuesday to host Lesley at 6 p.m.

NVU-JOHNSON 3, DEAN 0 – 25-5, 27-25, 25-19

Senior Tyler Martins (East Providence, R.I.) led Dean with six kills and three aces. First-year Hunter Armitage (Westerly, R.I.) added nine assists and a couple of kills.

Johnson was led by Zachary Anderson with 10 kills and 13 assists. Bar Suster hit .625 with six kills and three blocks. Luke Walters and Sam Munson added five kills apiece.

The Badgers rolled to a convincing first set victory behind 11 kill son 13 attempts and seven service aces.

The second set was close throughout and featured 11 ties and four lead changes. With the score tied at 25-25, Suster had consecutive kills to give the Badgers the victory.

Each team recorded eight kills in the third frame, but Johnson added six more aces to come away with the 25-19 win.

KING'S 3, DEAN 0 – 25-6, 25-3, 25-8

Martins added three kills and five digs to his daily total for Dean. Junior Aaron Fonseca (Cranston, R.I.) picked up a team best six digs to go with a couple of kills.

Jared Piontkowski and Gavin Gilhool posted six kills each to lead the Monarchs. Gilhool hit 1.000 and added four blocks. Ben Maskiell finished with 17 assists and three aces. Joe Herman had 10 aces for King's.
