Women's Basketball Falls at Albertus Magnus

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – December 9, 2023 – The Dean College women's basketball team fell to Albertus Magnus, 105-42, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Saturday afternoon.   

Dean (1-8, 0-2 GNAC) resumes action on Jan. 2 at home against MCLA. Albertus Magnus (9-3, 2-0 GNAC) hosts Farmingdale State on Thursday to conclude the first semester.

Senior Cat Thomas (Woodbridge, Conn.) posted a season-high 16 points to pace the Dean scoring attack. She also grabbed a team best eight rebounds. First-year Kendrah Doane (New Salem, Mass.) came away with nine points, six rebounds and six assists. Senior Allie Bezio (Wellfleet, Mass.) tallied five points and five rebounds in her final game for the Bulldogs.

1st Quarter
  • The Falcons made 10 shots with five of them coming from beyond the arc to lead 26-5 after the first.
  • Dean sophomore Carly Rettberg (Haddam, Conn.) made both of her shot attempts to lead the visitors with four points.
2nd Quarter
  • The action was back and forth throughout with the Falcons coming away with a slim 17-15 edge on the scoreboard for the 43-20 lead at the break.
  • The Bulldogs ended the half 7-of-10 from the free throw line.
  • Albertus Magnus made eight three-pointers to help build the lead.
  • Thomas had six points, while Doane added five for the Bulldogs.
3rd Quarter
  • Albertus was able to increase its lead to 67-29 in the third despite not making a three-pointer.
  • Thomas scored six of the Bulldogs' nine points in the frame.
  • Dean had a 13-12 edge in rebounding in the third.
4th Quarter
  • The home team erupted for 38 points in the final quarter.
  • Albertus made 13 field goals and shot 68.4%. The team went 12-for-16 from three-point range for 36 of the team's 38 points.
  • Five different Bulldogs found the scoring column to combine for 13 points.
